Your Adventure Begins We'll pick you up from your resort or meet you at our tour shop. Your pickup time will depend on your location. After pickup, we'll stop for a delicious Belizean breakfast before beginning our journey to Lamanai.

From San Pedro, you can choose between two transportation options: By Plane: Enjoy a scenic approximately 15-minute flight from San Pedro to Belize City. By Water Taxi: Take a comfortable approximately 1½-hour boat ride from San Pedro to Belize City.

Once you arrive in Belize City, you'll meet your professional tour guide and continue by private vehicle toward Orange Walk Town, approximately a 1-hour drive from Belize City.

Journey Along the New River When you arrive in Orange Walk, you'll meet your boat crew and board the river boat for an exciting journey through the waterways and jungle of northern Belize. The river journey to Lamanai takes approximately 2½ hours. Along the way, keep your eyes open for some of Belize's amazing wildlife.

Depending on the day and conditions, you may have the opportunity to see:

• Crocodiles
• A variety of tropical birds
• Reptiles and other wildlife

Beautiful jungle scenery Your knowledgeable guide will share information about the area's wildlife, environment, and history as you make your way upriver. Explore the Ancient Maya City of Lamanai After approximately 2½ hours on the river, you'll arrive at the Lamanai Archaeological Site. Lamanai, meaning "Submerged Crocodile" in Maya, is one of Belize's most fascinating ancient Maya sites. Once you arrive, you'll leave the boat and explore the archaeological site with your guide for approximately 1 hour. Discover impressive ancient temples and learn about the history, culture, and achievements of the Maya civilization.

Enjoy a Traditional Belizean Lunch After exploring the Maya ruins, enjoy a delicious traditional Belizean lunch at the archaeological site. Lunch typically includes Belize's national dish: rice and beans with stewed chicken, giving you the opportunity to enjoy an authentic taste of Belize.

Return Journey After lunch, we'll board the boat for the return journey down the river. The boat ride back to the starting point takes approximately 1 hour. From there, you'll travel by private vehicle for approximately 1 hour back to Belize City. Once you arrive in Belize City, you'll return to San Pedro using your selected transportation: By Plane: Approximately 15-minute flight to San Pedro. By Water Taxi: Approximately 1½-hour boat ride to San Pedro. Once you arrive in San Pedro,one of our guides will meet you and take you back to your resort.
